Fishponds: Everything You Wanted to Know About Fishponds But Were Afraid to Ask.

By Julie Brownridge

Because I live in an area that has severe winters, I felt that having a fishpond was beyond my reach. I use the past tense because now that I have reviewed the book Fantastic Fish Ponds: How to Make Sure Your Fish Are Living the Good Life, I know that with knowledge just about anything is possible.
Ms Horsmanns has a way of organizing information that makes any nervous wannabee fishpond owner at ease. Every possible problem or obstacle is answered in this book.
All my uneasiness about cold winters were addressed from what fish to buy, what plants to get, covering my pond in the winter, what and if to feed in cold weather.
By the way, if your problem is that you live in a very warm climate, Ms Horsmann handles all those concerns as well.
One of the claims the author makes is: Thanks to easy, proven techniques made for "regular people" with little or no experience with water gardens, you'll quickly discover that having a thriving fish pond can be easy and fun! Well, she certainly delivers what she promises!

Ms. Horsmann gives you checklist for each of the four seasons, step by step instructions on how to acclimate your fish, instructs you on plants, chemicals and filters.
If you are not feeling very confident about stocking your pond with plants and fish, then I recommend you read this fantastic book. I know you will feel as I do, that instead of being an insurmountable obstacle, having a fish pond will be a fun and creative venture.
There are so many books on building ponds, yet most only have a very small section on fish, which means you would have to read many, many books to get a lot of information on stocking your pond. Why bother? All the information you would ever want is this one great book. Its perfect for both beginner and experienced pond owners.
This book will be a delight to read, extremely informative and a reference guide you will use over and over again. I highly recommend it!
